Deputy High Commissioner Ambassador Dinesh K. Patnaik visited University of Sussex on May 11, 2018

During the visit, Deputy High Commissioner toured the Sussex Innovation Centre which is a business incubation network for entrepreneurs, start-ups, growing companies and corporate and academic innovators. The centre is notable for an incredible 85% transformation of ideas into profitable, sustainable businesses. The idea of linking the more than 600 start ups being hosted by SIC with High Commissions’ Access India Programme was discussed during the discussion. An example of successful enterprises at the Centre was ‘TradeSift’ that has specialised over the years in international data analysis, and has worked closely with various Indian organisations and states.

Senior officials of the University including Professor Steven McGuire, Head of School Business, Management and Economics, Prof Alan Winters, Prof Economics, Director UK Trade Policy Observatory, Prof Saul Becker, Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Sussex, Prof Barry Reilly, Head of Department of Econometrics, Dr John Luis, Prof. of Management, Mr John Sandern, Senior international liaison officer for the South Asia Geography, Mr. Mihir Pandey, MBA Student Representative interacted with the Deputy High Commissioner during his visit.

Deputy High Commissioner encouraged enhanced collaboration of the University’s specialities in Development Studies, Science Policy and Research, Engineering, Informatics, Innovation, Business Management and Economics with Indian educational institutions and Indian students in general.

Ambassador Patnaik also interacted with students of the University on a host of bilateral and multilateral issues.
