Government of Punjab launched 'Connect With Your Roots' initiative at India House

Government of Punjab launched ‘Connect With Your Roots’ initiative at India House on September 13, 2017. Chief Minister of Punjab, Capt. Amarinder Singh, while launching the scheme, explained the motive behind this initiative as a journey to Punjab for those students who have never visited the state before and those who wish to experience first-hand the cultural and social life in the land of their forefathers.

Director General of Punjab Police, Mr. Dinkar Gupta presented some of the highlights of the scheme and encouraged the guests to share their feedbacks and suggestions for the initiative.The event was attended by many members of Indian community in the UK, especially those from Punjabi and Sikh origins. Many students from the UK schools imparting education in Punjabi were also present at the launch ceremony.

High Commissioner Mr. Y. K. Sinha in his address, welcomed this initiative. He commended the Punjabi community for their contributions in enhancing the strength of India-UK partnership across all sectors. High Commissioner also elucidated the series of events that have been organised, and those that are being planned by the High Commission and its two consulates in 2017, as part of the 350th Birth Anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh ji, with financial assistance of Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
