Pledge ceremony at India House on the occasion of 75th Anniversary 'August Kranti Andolan' or Quit India Movement

High Commission of India organised a pledge taking ceremony at Gandhi Hall in India House today on the occasion of 75th Anniversary of one of the most important milestones of India's freedom struggle- 'August Kranti Andolan' or Quit India Movement.

High Commissioner Mr. Y.K. Sinha administered the pledge marking the theme for a mass movement during the five-year period from 2017 when we are celebrating 70 years of India’s freedom to 2022 when we will commemorate 75 years of our freedom.

The theme of this landmark movement elucidated in detail by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha today, is “Sankalp se Siddhi—Attainment through Resolve”. The pledge binds everyone to strive with resolve to counter the menace posed to nation-building by poverty, corruption, lack of education and malnutrition. In 1942, Prime Minister said, the clarion call was 'Karenge ya marenge'- today, it's is 'Karenge aur kar ke rahenge'.
