Rajesh N. Prasad is a career diplomat. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in September 1980.  Prior to his assignment as Deputy High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom, Mr. Prasad was Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, looking after Europe West.  He has been High Commissioner of India to Accra, Ambassador of India to Algiers, and held diplomatic assignments in Indian Missions in Geneva, Jakarta, London and Jeddah/Riyadh.

Mr. Prasad holds a Master of Arts Degree in Economics from the Delhi University.
